October 30, 2006 Environmental Assessment Office PO Box 9426, STN PROV GOVT, Victoria, BC V8W 9V1 Dear Madam/Sir; I am writing to express concerns about the proposed South Fraser Perimeter Road. I have reviewed the application and feel the following issues should force the Gateway Program to consider alternative routes. 1. The Fraser River, already an endangered river, should not be put at further risk with the construction of a four-lane highway on its banks. - Streams will be damaged, - Shade on the shore will be lost, - pollution from exhaust will be increased. 2. Burns Bog is protected by a covenant and cannot be negatively impacted. - Pre-loading for the highway will damage the water flows to the bog. - pollution from vehicle exhaust will damage sensitive bog plants. 3. A long-standing residential neighbourhood will be permanently damaged by the route. - 75 homes in North Delta alone will be expropriated and demolished. - Many more homes will be negatively affected by increased noise and air pollution, but will not be compensated. Please deny an environmental certificate to this project until a new route is chosen. Sincerely, FirstName LastName 123 Street Name city Province Postal Code
