The SFPR causes havoc every where it goes in Delta...

In North Delta:

  • 75 homes (initial Gateway Estimate for North Delta) are to be expropriated.  Many hundreds more will be affected and those owners will receive no compensation.
  • Four lanes of truck traffic will increase the air and noise pollution in a residential neighbourhood with three elementary schools.
  • Internationally recognized heritage sites will be bulldozed, drilled, or capped with concrete.
  • Burns Bog is threatened by increased air pollution and decreased water connections with the Fraser River.
  • Seven ravines with fish-bearing streams will now host a four lane highway.

In Ladner:

  • The highway will carve a large scar across the north edge of Burns Bog impacting vital water flows to the Fraser River and increasing pollutants to the lands and waters.
  • The SFPR will have an overpass at Highway 10 and 72nd Street.
  • Access to Boundary Bay Airport is compromised.

In Tsawwassen:

  • Truck traffic will mingle with commuter traffic and be given easy access to the George Massey (Deas Island) Tunnel, creating safety and congestion challenges.
  • More farmland is being converted to blacktop, railway and container storage.
